US coach

For student-athletes from American universities taking part for the first time

APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN.

Conditions for international travel are currently evolving positively.  Vietnam remains on track to have close to 100% residents age 12 and above fully vaccinated and boosted by the end of March.  Schools in Vietnam have reopened in person, and the Vietnamese government has announced full reopening of the borders to foreigners starting March 15th, for the first time since before the pandemic.  Local authorities have also encouraged us to run camps in person again.

With these developments, we are planning to return to in-person programming in 2022 for our Camp 2 and Camp 3 session dates.  Should conditions change to prevent travel or in-person camps, we will be able to seamlessly revert to the highly successful service at a distance model of 2021 (see student-athlete participant survey).

In both our in-person and long distance models, American and Vietnamese college students team up to teach academics, life skills, and sports to middle school youth in rural Vietnam.  Genuine friendships and working closely together to best inspire the youth each day are at the center of what Coach for College has always been all about, whether in person or at a distance.

Please contact Seth Napier with any questions or for further details.

Vietnamese coach

For Vietnamese university students taking part for the first time

You will be as much a teacher and a mentor, but we call you "coach" for simplicity.  Each coach, along with their American and Vietnamese teammates, co-teaches one academic subject and one sport to all the children, and mentors one team of children more closely in life skills.  In addition to teaching, you will serve an important role, interpreting between the Americans and children.

Applications for Summer 2022 have now closed.

US college student director

Leadership position, for past participants returning for a second time

Many participants wish to remain involved, and to return to Vietnam again.  The college student-director role is designed to give you a quality, real world leadership experience, which will help you develop very new skills compared to your first time participating.

Having been through the program as a coach, you are uniquely suited to lead and mentor first time participants, to help maximize their effectiveness, growth and learning.  Prepare to be challenged in new ways!

Applications for summer 2021 will be accepted on a rolling basis.  If considering returning in this role, we recommend contacting Seth Napier.
